Weight Loss is Actually Weight Gain!

WEIGTH LOOS

For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. (Gal. 6:8)

Did you know that wishing and wanting for something will actually repel it?

Try this simple exercise. Don't think of a delectable, mouth-watering, savoury, rich morsel of Swiss chocolate. Did it work? Did you not think about it? Impossible, isn't it?

The same thing happens in our minds when we think of losing weight all the time. When we think of weight loss, the feelings that arise are of pain, frustration, failure, yo-yo-ing, and deprivation. Weight loss puts the focus in the wrong place and often leads to gaining more weight.

The truth is that God has created us to live perfect healthy lives. He wants us to seek Him in order for that to be accomplished. He does not want us to worry and teaches us that we don't have to worry about doing what He naturally created us to do. He wants us to know and believe that He came so that we can have an abundant life (John 10:10).

Just as the birds fly and the flowers grow, God has also created us to live in abundance without struggle and worry.

Worry will bring us more worry and in that way, trying to lose weight will not help our weight loss efforts. So what's the solution? Glad you asked:

In Matt. 6:33, Jesus tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness above all else and He will give us everything we need. He wants us to sow to our spirit and not our flesh.

Easier said than done, right?

Maybe not. Today try this:

Sow where you want to go...

Stay conscious of your thoughts today. Every time you feel any anxiety, worry or dissatisfaction about your weight, ask God to give you one positive thing about yourself, your body or your health.

Bless and praise every inch of your body and give thanks for it. Better yet, pray for someone else's health.

God has given us a wonderful principle of sowing and reaping (II Cor 9:6-10) which counteracts the failure of the world's weight loss strategies.
